IUSO 5 2009

Photobucket
We are very pleased to announce that Anthony Lister, a New York based Australian artist, has donated one of his recent paintings to raise money for the Skateistan project.

The donation is initiated by a group of Brisbane creatives led by Jim Gleeson, manager of the innovative community engagement agency, Plan C.

Moneys raised will go towards funding our first volunteer – Australian skating legend Scott Shearer to teach skateboarding in Kabul this July. Remaining funds will be kept for establishing a cross cultural exchange program for one lucky Afghan skate student to come and train in Australia.

The painting will be auctioned on line, with the lucky winner announced at the popular yearly skateboard deck art exhibition/ music event organized by Fortitude Valley store, The Outpost, ‘I Used to Skate Once.’ on 25th June 2009 (skateonce.blogspot.com). The event attracts over 1000 punters and promises to be a big night.

Please email Sharna and the skateistan team at Sharna@skateistan.org with your enquiries and bids.

All donations are tax deductable so please, get behind us!
